Speaker 1:

Hey, mama, whether or not you're trying out your camera for the very first time, or you've been doing this a while and just looking for some creative inspiration, I've got all that and more. I'm here to help you see your world differently, challenge you creatively and find your passion for photography. Hey guys, welcome back to Better Photos Podcast with me, brittany Porter from Be Posh Photography. To Better Photos Podcast with me, brittany Porter from Be Posh Photography at Be Posh Photo on Instagram. If you want to follow me over there, I'd love to hear from you what you're loving from the podcast, what you want to know more of, what you'd like to see or learn, and hopefully incorporate that into future episodes. So we are continuing with building your business, and today we are going to be talking all about marketing. So even if you don't have a photography business, I think this podcast will be super helpful to any sort of business that you are starting or want to start and just gives you a good starting point to market whatever business you have. Last week we talked about client experience and how making an unforgettable client experience can also help your marketing, because happy clients want to tell their friends, and so today we'll just dive into more seven ways to market your business or to get more clients, and ideal clients at that. Stay tuned for that. This week we had I was kind of planning out my days with the weather and I planted a garden, a flower garden.

Speaker 1:

I'm hoping to do like cut flowers and make like bouquets and stuff, because there's nothing that makes me happier than beautiful flowers and the work that goes into growing them. At my old house I had, like this cut flower garden and it was just so fun to be able to like cut bouquets for my house and to give away. I remember me and my daughters probably my son too when they were little, we would cut like little bouquets and just take them around to the neighbors and just knock on their doors and give them little bouquets. And I don't know, it just makes me feel like so filled with joy when you're giving someone beautiful flowers. And so I started following somebody on Instagram and I was like when I get an idea, I have to do it like right away. I don't know about you, but like if I feel inspired or motivated, it's like I have to act like right then, otherwise it might fizzle out and it might never happen. So when I get an idea. It's like I better start now, otherwise it just might not like ever come around to my brain again.

Speaker 1:

So I, you know, started a plan for gardening and I loved her approach. It was more for like the kind of let's just see what happens approach, and so there was like some structure to it and I don't really know You're going to have to stay tuned for like how this pans out. But I was nervous, you know, I think I talked about last week, but I like being a photographer is kind of like a catch 22, because you're always thinking about how it's going to look in a picture. And you know, I think I said about how the sunniest part of my yard you can see like this, the, the neighbor's house, and so anywhere that I really photograph it's gonna have like that house in the background, and so I was really trying to put it on the other side of my house. But it's just so shady that I'm nervous that once all the leaves come back on the trees it's not gonna be like the ideal spot. So, um, I forego the. Actually, I think I'm going to do both if I have enough seeds.

Speaker 1:

Um, we ordered a truckload of compost, like mushroom compost and had it delivered. And it was so much it was four yards and basically what they said is only one yard would fit in the back of like a normal truck. So we got four yards in this like mini dump truck thing and then I laid out cardboard and then compost, or like wetted it and then compost and then put some fabric on top. And then I like got to use this blowtorch thing and create like little holes that I was going to put the seeds in, like burning through the fabric mesh. And then I planted like all my seeds Dahlia bulbs, cosmos, um Zinnias and um Achillea I don't know how you say it Um and then I have like a bunch of other seeds that I'm starting inside just in case, um. And then we set up this like mini sprinkler sprinkler drip system. It's like a DIY thing on Amazon. I have it linked in my Amazon storefront under a garden, and so that was kind of nice, but it took forever to figure out the directions. But I have that set up and then it's supposed to rain today and it got a little cold, so I went out in there and had to like put like some burlap over everything anyways. So that was what we did this weekend.

Speaker 1:

Um, also this week I had a newborn session and I just love newborn sessions like photographers either love them or don't like them, and I love them. So I had this little baby, ava. She was so cute and just. I love looking at nurseries and how people design things and just the colors and like just how everything meshes together and it looks so beautiful. So I posted some of those recently and then this week I am, I have another newborn shoot.

Speaker 1:

I think I'm waiting to hear when the baby is going to be delivered. So I tell my clients to go ahead and book a date on the calendar around their due date and then they just reach out to me whenever they are, um, just had the baby in labor, have us like scheduled, like induction, c-section, whatever, and then we kind of go from there after baby's born and I try to wait until the baby is at least six pounds or more, um, just so that you don't have that like super tiny, shriveled, like hard I don't know, like not, I don't know. Just like all the swaddle blankets, like like swallow them. So I try to wait until they have a little bit more meat on their bones If they're like a five pounder, or if they have to go to the NICU for any period of time, we kind of adjust and so, um, so that is what I do for newborns Um, the earlier the better, better, because I always send out like a little like package, like before before they give birth and just like a little welcome gift kind of thing. And I made these really cute bags that say photo ready and they're like packaged with like different things for photo day, and so I might sell those on my Etsy or my big cartel as well because they're so cute, all right.

Speaker 1:

So, without further ado, we are going to get started on the marketing. So get excited, all right. So today we're going to be talking about marketing your photography Seven ways to get more clients. Okay, so the first thing that you want to do is, when you specifically look at Instagram, your first nine posts is like your storefront window. When someone looks at your page, they should know who you are, what you offer and what makes you unique, and so you can look at your feed, and I think it even suggested at one point like one in every nine photos should be a picture of you. I don't know if I I I mean I might kind of follow that just to have like a face behind your business.

Speaker 1:

And then I think we talked about like a while ago, like having a separate Instagram for your business. When you do your Instagram and we've started your business one, make sure to change your Instagram to a business account. It's going to suck at first because the audio is terrible. This is where TikTok comes in for me. Okay, so if I create something or on a Instagram, on my personal or like BePosh photo, if I already have access to Instagram music, then I can post it there and invite my business to collaborate and then I think you can use the audio. When you start a business account on Instagram, you get the worst selection of audio.

Speaker 1:

Let me just say that, okay, when you search for a song, it's not going to come up. Um, I don't know how long it takes, but I started a um apparel company back in maybe last summer and I still don't have access to Instagram music. So, um, this is where TikTok comes in for me. Okay, so I will post something on TikTok and it suggests and it gets better as, like you keep posting, like what you like, it starts knowing. So I love like a lot of like vintage music. You know sounds like it's coming through a record player or just like you know, just nostalgic vibes, and so a lot of times it will go ahead and recommend a song like that.

Speaker 1:

When I post it on TikTok, before you even post it, it'll just automatically add a song to it. You can also like view trending songs, whatever, and so when you post on TikTok, it automatically downloads a, and recently I haven't seen any TikTok um labels on my videos. It just once I post on TikTok it downloads it with the audio to my phone. So then I just go back over to Instagram on my business account that doesn't have the Instagram music and I upload it there so that it already has like some audio and then somehow like Instagram will like, add it to the, the Instagram music thread or like where people like search that audio. Then they can see it. But that's how you can get around the the less lesser features of starting a new business account.

Speaker 1:

The great thing about the business account versus the personal is that another. Well, okay, so you can view your analytics, you can see what posts are doing. Well, you can see insights, you can see who's sharing your stuff not who's sharing, but you can see that it was shared, you can see that it was saved, and that is what Instagram is looking at the most is your shared and saved content, and so that's where coming up with, like quotes or funny moments or you know, things that people can relate to will come in handy. Is not maybe necessarily like bringing in you know someone that's looking at your photos, but bringing them in because you're relatable, um, and because someone else shared it, um. You want to create some of those things, um, and then making sure that your Instagram profile is um, not private. So if you have it private, the only people that are going to see your things are the people that click to follow you, and they don't know if they want to follow you yet because they can't see any photos. So make sure that that is open and that you're posting things that you only want everyone to see. And what I love now is that you can invite to collaborate so you can link your personal Instagram to your business, but people don't have to follow your personal to see your business work. You can still keep posting your kids, your family all that on your personal account, and whoever is already following you on your personal account will also see a post on your page that is the same post on your business page, so it brings in like double the views the people that are following your business and the people that are following your personal account. So that is something to think about Throughout this section of marketing.

Speaker 1:

There are two apps I could not live without as a business owner. I pay for these, I get the pro version and I will never look back. They have a free version and I think I can't. I can't remember the differences between the pro and the free. So the free will work out until you realize that you need more, and so I think it could be that the pro version will like update memories. So you can say, from now on, I want you to do blah, blah, blah and it will save. That will like update memories. So you can say, from now on, I want you to do blah, blah, blah and it will save that, and then every text thread you start, it will remember that same thing. So maybe for hashtags, I want to say like, from now on, put them in, put the hashtags in an easy copy and paste format, and so then, or remember that and then anytime I ask for hashtags on anything, it will remember that, even if it's a new text thread I think the free one you have to keep everything on one text thread for it to remember previous um things. The second one, and we'll kind talk about these as we go through the rest of the marketing suggestions.

Speaker 1:

The second app I highly recommend, and paying for the pro version, is Canva. Canva Pro is amazing. They have a free version, but you'll quickly notice that you're going to want the pro because everything that has a little crown on it is part of the pro version. Otherwise, you have to pay for that individual item and Canva is basically like a design platform for non-designers. So they have these like pre-done templates and you can search for like Instagram posts, so they already have like four by five squares and then they have templates that you really just like change the text, change the colors and you can drop your photos right into those templates, and so those are amazing.

Speaker 1:

If you want to do any kind of like other than just a straight picture on your Instagram, if you want to add any sort of graphic or elements or text even over an image, like talking about your brand or talking about yourself or maybe a quote or tip. There's like multiple ways to do this, rather than just in the Instagram app and the. I didn't mention this one, but a third one that I use constantly for Instagram is called InShot and it is basically for making like reels and things like that um, outside of the Instagram platform. I use the free version and it is enough. It doesn't even have like a watermark or anything on it and you can upload like photos, um to make a reel or video, and it's like very easy to like find your stuff on your phone and then, um, it's not clunky Like. If you've ever tried to create like a reel on Instagram, it will like shut down sometimes and like completely lose everything you just did, and I just find it very like. I don't know like if my fingers are just fat or like just trying to like zoom in enough to like shorten the clip 'm like this is like not for me, but in in shot it's like easier. You can set the duration for like one clip and then copy and paste that duration to all the clips. So, say, if your clips are all various times, then I can say, oh, I just want this one to be like a bunch of photos stacked together and I want them to all be four seconds long. I can set the first one to four seconds, and then there's these like double check marks and that just means like copy it to all of them. So then I can make all the photos at one seamless time be all four seconds. So again, that's ChatGPT Pro, canva Pro and InShot I-N-S-H-O-T, and I'll put those links in my show notes if you want to find them there. So I cannot recommend those enough. Chatgpt alone is like your business best friend. You can ask it anything and it will come up with a lot. So it really depends on the prompts that you put in and I'll talk more about that later what I have um for sale, uh, for new business owners. It is incredible if you're trying to get into learning chat GPT and you don't know what to put in, actually I'll just go ahead and tell you Okay, so I have this like chat GPT instruction guide and basically it helps you find your brand identity, who you are and why you do what you do. That's your brand. And then it helps you find your ideal client slash, target market, and so it is going to help you define, it's going to ask you questions and you answer all the questions and then you basically put it back into chat, gpt and then name the ideal client. Like I said I think I talked about this before my ideal client, susie, and I've I have her like specifically defined where she likes to shop, what she likes to do, um, how many kids she has, what are her frustrations, like all these things. And so the pro version lets me like save her and like name her and then bring her up in different text threads. Um, so it could be like I have like a million different like text threads and it will always remember, like, if I ask about Susie, like what would Susie think about this? What would? How would you hashtag this to reach somebody like Susie? What would you caption this to reach Susie? There's like a million different things. Okay, so that would help you find your brand identity target market. And then it has steps to ask about a 30-day content plan which basically marks out every single day what you should post, the hashtags you should use, the captions, and then it might even have like a shot list of like things that you would capture or whatever. So you can just take a day to like, plan this all out and then have it pre, ready and ready to go like in Instagram, and then you don't even really have to think about what do I post today, what should I say, what do I do Like or you can have it ready and like, post it in real time, or you can have it scheduled to post. So that is my chat GPT guide in my shop, and so that will be linked below. Okay, so back to my steps. We have focus on your Instagram. Nine grid photos, and you can even ask chat GPT like I, my brand is blah, blah, blah, and what are nine specific things that I should rotate in my instagram feed to reach my ideal client? So and so, um, and so that is what you can do for that. All All right. Number two you're going to think about hashtags and SEO and making your content searchable. Okay, instagram is not just a social platform. It's where people go to like, search things. Um, this has been like key for me, specifically when I'm shopping or looking for a photographer, or looking for somewhere to eat or like a new place to go, or a hair place or whatever. I go to Instagram so often and type in what I'm looking for and it will bring up different things. So if someone says like Charlotte family photographer into the Instagram search bar, will your page show up, and here's some ways that will help it show up when people are searching for you Hashtags that are location based and client focused. So, using hashtags like Charlotte family photographer or Charlotte Charlotte maternity photos or NC newborn photography these location-based things, and you can be broad, like Charlotte, or you can be very specific, like a town or county or whatever you think people are going to be searching for in that tab. Maybe it's like surrounding cities of your city, um, or maybe you are using a bigger city because you want, um, more people, or you do both Um and then adding SEO keywords into your captions, um. So this is where I use chat GBT too. I'll ask like, hey, can you create a caption? And you can copy and paste your picture into chat GPT and say, hey, caption this, this and target Susie with it, and sometimes it'll come back with like a response and it sounds too like not you, and you can ask it to like change to a tone of like a best friend style or more personal, or you can change it yourself based on like how it would sound if you said it. And so, instead of writing like love this session, how cute is this baby? Like whatever you can write, dreamy golden hour, maternity session in Charlotte, nc. This moment was pure magic, okay. So see how that added like a lot more keywords, um, with like maternity session, charlotte, golden hour, dreamy. These are using a lot of SEO keywords that people may be typing into Google or typing into Instagram and will hopefully find your page Then using location tags, like on your photos, making sure that you add location on your post. So if you click on your post and you go up to the three dots and click edit and then at the top you hit location and then just type in the location of the session or where you are, and that can help people who are like, sometimes when I'm location scouting, I'll type on that location or tap it on on someone's like feed and and that location will bring up any photos that have been taken at that location, whether it's a city and I'm trying to like find somewhere to shoot, or maybe it's like a food place that I'm trying to look for in that location, maybe it is an activity at like a new place, um. So location tagging on Instagram will help people find you as well. All right, number three reels versus post, okay so. And also carousels Okay. So what we have learned from Adam, whatever head of Instagram what we have learned from Adam, whatever head of Instagram is that static Instagram posts like photos. If you just put one no music, or if you put a carousel no music, then it is going to show up specifically online to your followers, unless someone shares it to their story or to a friend. You're mostly going to get viewers that already follow you. Okay so, in terms of reaching new followers, post, static post and static pictures are not bringing in many views. They may get some by hashtags if someone's searching that way, location tags, whatever, but majority of the views are going to come from people who already follow you. So if you don't have a big following, then I would only suggest this post occasionally, because I still like to scroll through people's things and not see something moving and to kind of like take it all in, zoom in, go at my own pace, and so I still see a need for those Plus. You want to keep, like some of your people who are following you, engaged as well, and so that is for a static post If you are creating a reel or if you add music to a carousel, these are now going to show up in the same feed, like the carousels with music are going to show up on the reels tab as well. Um, in in the home thing, um, when people are scrolling, and okay, so reels and carousels, they will bring in new followers. People that are not following you will also see your reels. What you can post for reels is great for behind the scenes clips. I have a great tripod in my Amazon storefront that you can bring with you and set up and just have B-roll. You can bring with you and set up and just have B-roll Just. You can cut out the audio later and just have a video of you doing what you do, whether that is sitting and editing, whether that is recording podcasts, whether that is you photographing something, whether that is like whatever is behind the scenes, maybe creating something, or you can tailor this to your business. If you're not photography, like whatever is behind the scenes, maybe creating something, or you can tailor this to your business. If you're not photography, like whatever you do, just getting video behind the scenes before and afters, you can make videos into a reel of like your session, like favorites, or you can do like client testimonials, like if you have anybody write down like a review after, or if they want to send you like a little video clip of like why their session was so special and that can help help you reach new people. Then carousels I love to see carousels because it gives me an idea of like what the whole collection looked like for for people's clients. It's like, okay, you can always post like find like three great photos. But if you have like 10 great photos that are all various um like locations, like within someone's house or viewpoints or some of that shot list that I created for you guys, if you have one from each of those challenges or shots and you put one of those in each of your 10 sections, you're going to have an amazing carousel to show sections. You're going to have like an amazing carousel to show. Now, if you add audio to that carousel, that's when it becomes a reel, or in the reels category. Carousels can also be like outfit guides, session prep tips and like Instagram wants some, wants people to stay on um Instagram longer and if they are on your page for longer, then that helps, helps your you in some way, like it helps Instagram push you out to more people because people were staying on your page longer. So if you can create like reels that they have to watch over and over and over again to like read the text, sometimes, um, or see like the ending, then um, then that helps. Or if you have like a carousel and they have to keep swiping to see the next thing, um, and stay there, to like read your tip, then that also helps Instagram push your content out more. And then stories Stories. I've been told that you shouldn't post like your actual, like finished photo on a story. That should be like on your feed or on your reel. But sometimes I want to get things out to clients and just show them a sneak peek and I haven't like fully done like all the retouching or something that I don't want permanent on my feed. Then I still push it to a story and then that helps them reshare the story because they're so excited and then I get new followers like from that. It also is helpful to get like engagement from stories, posting things like polls or like a question box or like a thumbs up, you know, like thumbs up or thumbs down or, yes, no, things like that to get your audience engaged, because the more they engage with you again, the more you're going to show up. Now a weekly marketing plan, okay. So an example of your marketing plan can be like Monday, you're going to post a new session that you did over the weekend or last week or maybe it's from your portfolio. Tuesday, you're going to share a client testimonial or a behind the scenes reel. Tuesday, you're going to share a client testimonial or a behind the scenes reel. Wednesday, you're going to post a carousel with FAQs, pricing or session prep tips. Thursday, engage with local businesses or potential clients in your area. And Friday, post a fun personal reel or client feature. And so these are just things that you're going to repeat every single week until it becomes like ingrained in you and it takes ideas on specific things to post for that session or for that reel, or the captions to use, the hashtags to use, and all that in a more personal way. And then you can like print it out, or I like to use an app called Notion is basically kind of like a Google Doc, that you can have an app on your phone and you can access it through a web link that you can keep all your notes. I copy and paste like a lot of stuff from ChatGPT into there and then I can refer back. It's really easy to turn things into pages or checklists or bulleted things and if you want to know more you can search that on YouTube on how to use Notion. But that is really helpful in keeping all my stuff organized and like my content calendar and all that. And okay, number five using Pinterest. Okay, so, unlike Instagram, where your post will disappear and go further down as you post new things, pinterest will keep your content searchable for months or like even years. So every session that you post on Instagram can be turned into a Pinterest pin and this will help long-term traffic to your website. So this is what you do you go to Pinterest, you upload a new pin and then you create like a very good description with SEO keywords and again, you can ask ChatGPT to do that for you and then just copy and paste it and then link the pin to your website, to your Instagram or to like a form, an intake form, to like, add to your email list. So you can also use Canva to create a post and so maybe make a goal that you're going to do five to ten like new pins per week and you can use Canva to create, like you know, if you have any text or like a template that you want to put the photo in, to create like new pins that somebody may want to click on, so it could be trends. You know that that people are seeing, it could be you know tips, and so maybe you want to elevate the way the photo looks or give some context to it so people would click on it within Pinterest. So that can help with long term marketing. All all right. Number six is networking with local businesses and building referrals. Okay, so we've talked about like the client experience and like people recommending you because they had a great experience. Well, that's kind of similar into building relationships with local businesses that share your audience. So if you are doing maternity sessions, then maybe you want to partner with a local boutique that has like maternity outfits and maybe you could do this like invite to collaborate kind of thing, like maybe you have a client that wears like their dress and then or maybe they give you a discount on something and then you tag them and or you invite to collaborate, so it's on both your feeds that can aid. I mean, anytime you want to collaborate, it's like you want to make sure that you're offering them something as well, or you can collaborate with another company to do a giveaway, or you can start a referral package what is it called A referral program and maybe you give like a print credit, or maybe you give them like a discount off a session, or maybe you give them like a discount off a session, or maybe you give them, you know, access to your client closet or whatever else that you could give them. If a new client says that they were sent by so-and-so so, on my intake form for my sessions, I always say like how did you hear about me? And they can either put like someone that they that told them or referred them to me, or they can just say Instagram. And whenever they say Instagram and we have like no friends in common, I'm like okay, that marketing plan from chat GPT like really worked, because they're literally only finding me through hashtags and SEO and keyword search through Instagram. So I saw my business grow like so much. I wish I could, I wish I would have taken like note of like how many followers I had before I started with chat GBT, um, and like the help that it has provided with content strategy, um, because it has grown so much. Um, I can't recommend that enough using chat GPT into all of your business planning and being very specific with it. So, again, get that chat GPT guide and you will be like mind blown. Um, or you can just try out putting in different prompts, but I like it to be like all in one place and then you can just like copy and paste all your answer stuff and keep it in notion. So, in notion, I have like a tab that is saved. That is my brand identity. I have a tab that is saved that is all about my client Mark, uh, my ideal client, susie Andie, and then I have my like content plan in there that I can refer to. Anything like that, that chat gbt that I want to keep in like a safe place that I can refer to. Better, I just put it in notion again. Okay, so after you are networking with local businesses and building referrals, then number seven last but not least, you want to make it easy for clients to book you. If booking is confusing, people won't do it. So make sure that you have a clear link in your bio that directly links to your booking page, constantly putting in your stories. Like there's a gym that I follow, and every time they put that link straight in their stories I'm like, okay, I should just sign up. Like it makes it so easy to sign up and it's like not annoying to me to see like book here, book here, book here, because it's so easy. You know, like, if I want to book here, then it's like, oh awesome, I don't have to go out of stories, go to your page, click the link in bio, blah, blah, blah. It's like, okay, just book here. And if you don't know how to do that, um, when you go to your stories and post I'm pretty sure everyone knows, at least maybe this, but just in case you don't, okay, so say I want to add to my story. You click the little post-it note thing and then you click link and then that's where you want to copy and paste your booking link because we want to have that set up online so that it's easy to book. And then on your customized sticker you can click like book here, or let's work together. Or like, book your amazing family photos, or let's freeze time, or whatever. Okay, so make it really easy for people to book you. I made guides in Canva that has like my pricing guide for family sessions. I have it tiered so that the people that um only want to do this price point can have that. And then it's tiered to my like um biggest package that has like everything including the USB and my client closet included in it and that is laid out in a um Canva website form. Um, you can also make it like a PDF and send it to people, but making sure that people know how to book you, how much you cost, what your session includes, and so to have a link in bio. Now Instagram has a couple. You can set a couple websites into your links so you can have one that goes straight to booking you. You can have one that goes to your your Canva link that shows like your tiered package pricing structure and gives them information on what is included in each session. Or you can have like a link to like your about me page on your website that tells people like who you are and like your brand identity. Or you can have it as a link tree thing if you have like way more Like maybe I want it to link specifically to newborn sessions and then another link for family sessions and then another link for my session. Uh, info and pricing. So three links in there. If you want more, then you can go to link tree L, I, n, k, t, r, dot E, e and sign up for a free link in bio where you can put multiple links. Um, this is what you did before Instagram or when Instagram only allowed you one link, um, and then people can view, like more things. So maybe you have like a mini session coming up and maybe you have like multiple mini sessions coming up for different seasons and you don't want all those links in your bio. You want it in another link in your link tree. Then you can add more links through that. But you just want to make it very like, easy to book. And then one last thing okay, well, actually like two more bonus things. Okay, making sure that your Instagram bio also has SEO keywords. Again, I asked ChatGPT about that Once I had my like brand identity and my ideal target market, I asked them to come up with like the perfect Instagram bio, and so it had me put Charlotte, newborn and family photographer so that people will be able to find me with those keywords. And again, using that location keyword. And then another thing is eventually you can add in using many chat. Okay, so if it's overwhelming with sending people links and sending people where to go and things, you can have that automated through a service uh, episode on mini chat. But this is when you want to have a little more hands off. Um, again, like you don't want. If you're like me and you get sidetracked with Instagram, it's like you go on to post something and then all of a sudden you're scrolling for the next three hours and you're like wait a second, I didn't even like do anything like for my business. So it's one thing to get on and have interactions with your clients Like sometimes they say that it's best, before you post something, to go and spend a little bit of time liking people's posts or commenting on their stories or sending like emojis Just like engaging with your clients for a little bit before you actually post something. So you can try that, but also be very mindful of not wasting your time on Instagram. Another thing is that you can to minimize the time that you're spending on your phone is the automated post. You can do that. I think you might can do that specifically through Instagram. Now, if not, there was a a content calendar called plan planally. I think there's like some more, but I had planally and, um, it would auto schedule your posts to go out. So even if you want to get on and you know something is going to be scheduled, to post at like 10 AM and say, say, I get on at 930 and I do like a little bit of engaging with my followers, then I will go, can do that and then I can get right back off and get back to my day, not on Instagram. So that is one thing to do. Another thing that you can do is, um, have your responses done through many chats. And then another thing is Facebook. If you still have clients that want to book you through Facebook or that are on Facebook and maybe not on Instagram, um, for me I I think this is more for, like I don't know I I have not gotten that many great clients through Facebook because, um, I feel like a lot of people are budget shopping again or like wanting the most for less um, through like the mom to mom group stuff. But occasionally I do have some really great clients that come in through that Um, and I love when people refer me through there. I'm not that I'm not active on Facebook, um, so what I do is I set up my Instagram to automatically push things to Facebook. So I still have that audience there, especially like clients that I've had for a long time that are more, more, uh, engaged on Facebook. They can engage with my content still because it's being pushed there, um, and I don't want to physically like, get on Facebook. So that is another strategy to help maximize your marketing. Let me see if there's anything else that I think would be helpful. Again, marketing is like a beast, so you can never learn enough, do enough. There's always new things coming out and if you don't follow Adam Mossery whatever his name Mossery on Instagram, he's the one that comes up with like he's the head of um Instagram, something um, and he will get on and post about what, what they're pushing through Instagram like strategies to do Um. There's also lots of other like um people that I follow that are um, just social media, um, like content creator, help help people. I don't even know what it's called. I listened to a bunch of podcasts that are all about this Like. Sometimes it's specifically only this Shannon McKinstry. I like her podcast. She's very like. It's like 10 minutes long each week and she just gives me like the highlights of what to do and what to strategize on, because really everything can be overwhelming when you listen to it. So again, going through that like simple step of coming up with your weekly plan, like I mentioned in number four, your simple marketing plan, maybe start there with like each day of the week. It's kind of like a cleaning schedule, like what are you doing, like each week, so that you just know, print it out, put it on a calendar, hang it on the wall in front of you, put it on your phone and then just know that day that's what you're posting. To get more specific again, you can go back to that chat GPT guide that's going to give you the 30-day content marketing plan and that's going to give you specifics on shot list or detail shots, wide shots, emotional shots, ones that are for like maternity versus newborn versus like heritage or like generational stuff versus behind the scenes, versus personal posts, versus you know. So there can be a variety and maybe you want to post more than one thing a day and then with your analytics again you can go back and see what is performing well, how many new followers were brought in, based on even each post, and then you'll get feedback and you'll know, okay, my clients really like that or this worked a lot. And then you know just to do more of that. So it's really fun just seeing like I get like so excited, like to put something out just to see what it brings back in. I guess it's kind of like fishing, like you're putting something out, like throwing your net out this side. You've tried this and then like you see like what you caught, and you know like, okay, should I stay on this side of the boat or should I go to the other side of the boat? Should I go a little further? Should I go in? And then, um, at some point you start booking all these clients and then it's like now you can just sit back and post like more for fun, or it's not such a burden. And also I want to mention that like sometimes you'll just feel like you're keep putting things out and you're not getting anything back and that could just be like slow season. So maybe summer is slow, maybe like December is slow, maybe January is slow. There can be slow seasons. And don't feel like the work that you're putting in is not going to be returned, because you will definitely, definitely, definitely see a return if you follow these marketing tips and it may not be right away, but all of a sudden you'll start booking more and you'll be like, oh okay, this is actually working. But, like anything, just start. And I hope this was helpful. Again, I just want to recap our seven things to get more clients or to market your photography. One focus on your nine grid on Instagram. Two, hashtags and SEO, making your content really searchable. Three, doing reels and posts. Four, create simple marketing plans so that you don't get overwhelmed. Five start using Pinterest.
