Hey, mama, whether or not you're trying out your camera for the very first time, or you've been doing this a while and just looking for some creative inspiration, I've got all that and more.
Speaker 1:I'm here to help you see your world differently, challenge you creatively and find your passion for photography. Welcome back to Better Photos Podcast. How did you like that episode last week with my AI co-host? That was so crazy, right? Okay, so today it's just me and I am going to teach you how to organize your summer with chat GPT.
Speaker 1:So it is so easy to get in a workflow, a flow of everything. Organize your time when the kids are in school and you have more structure. But summer is chaotic and if I don't have some sort of structure, I end up doing nothing really productive and I'm kind of in a funk or in a mood of like things that I feel like I should be doing but I don't, or I'm using my time in random places like scrolling or just totally. My mind cannot stay straight. So I'm going to give you some tips on how to organize your workflow for the summer and some other things like a cleaning schedule. So if this is for you, then stick around and we are going to get some structure for your summer, okay. So I asked ChatGPT help. I was like, help, help, help. Okay. So this is what I did. I told chat GPT that I need a daily checklist for my business. I told chat GPT what my business was, um, what I do, and I named, like, each task that I need to get done or that I would like to get done, and how long I have to work on it. So this can fluctuate and, depending on your business, depending on how many hours you have a day, depending on how many days a week you want to work, this can all be changed. So this is my exact prompt that I put in. I said I need help coming up with a daily checklist for my business.
Speaker 1:I am a newborn and family photographer. Tasks I typically do throughout the week, aside from shooting our editing photos packaging, client boxes, order supplies, post reels, post stories, post feed posts, connect with my audience, record a podcast, market my podcast, create a freebie, record content, create and send a newsletter, and I want to also include working on a mini course. So include planning that. If I have four hours a day and five days a week, how would you structure my time? Okay, that's a lot so and I even like changed one more thing to add in something else. And what it gives you back is it said here's a structured daily checklist and time blocking plan that helps you manage your newborn and family photography business with four hours a day, five days a week, while balancing your creative work, marketing and course creation Okay. So then it gave me a chart and it said focus areas Okay, so we have photo editing, social media, podcast, newsletter, freebie creation, client boxes and orders, mini course planning and buffer time slash admin. Okay. So then it went down and broke it down to each day four hours, Um, and I kind of tweaked this a little bit based on, like I normally like my podcast to come out on a Monday or I normally have like time to do this on this day. So I switched it around from what I'm about to say. But this is basic and sometimes I'm like, oh, okay, that wouldn't take me that long so I could adjust the time that I'm doing each task. So for Monday is my marketing and content creation day, based on this chat GPT um suggestion. So it gives me an hour to plan and record one to two reels, batch film and voiceovers, then, 30 minutes on posting on my feed and on my stories. 30 minutes to engage with my audience, like direct messages and comments. One hour to write and schedule a newsletter. One hour mini course planning, brainstorm modules and writing outlines. Okay, so that's Monday or what it suggested.
Speaker 1:Tuesday is podcast and freebie day, so one hour recording and editing podcast. 30 minutes marketing my podcast with stories, feed or Pinterest. One hour work on freebie PDF guide or template. 30 minutes on reposting or engaging on Instagram. One hour editing photos, galleries or sneak peeks. Wednesday is client experience day. I have one and a half hours to edit photos. One hour to package client boxes and prep slash track orders. 30 minutes to yeah, post reel or carousel. 30 minutes to connect in my DMs with past and future clients. 30 minutes mini course refinement or lesson recording.
Speaker 1:Thursday is creative content and community day, so it suggests one hour to record behind the scenes or B-roll content. One hour editing reels or video snippets. 30 minutes engaging with my audience or sending thank you notes. One hour to edit photos. 30 minutes to plan next week's Instagram post or stories series. And Friday is strategy and admin day editing photos for an hour. One hour catching up with emails, finances, backups. One hour course creation, recording or designing assets. 30 minutes recapping the week and planning next week's tasks and 30 minutes posting on my story or feed slash engagement.
Speaker 1:Okay, so that is my daily checklist. I basically copied and pasted that into my notion, um, notion's kind of like a hub that keeps like everything. It's so easy and user friendly. So I created like a page that has, like um, a checklist of these things and like what days, um, and so that helps me. Like again I said, I went in and tweaked it a little bit and so when I get up in the morning which I set my alarm at 5.30 am and I get up and I don't have a plan to go straight to workout or like high intensity things, I go out and I open up or I get my coffee first, then I sit down and I look at my workflow for the day. So this helps my brain see those four to five tasks that I need to get done that morning before my kids wake up, before my husband gets out of bed, so that I can feel confident for the rest of the day. And let me tell you, this is such a game changer when it comes to trying to stay focused but also giving yourself a little leeway if you need to shift something to another day. But just having it like simply put out of what I need to do is so much more fulfilling when I know that I've already got that out of the way before my kids wake up. So that is so helpful. Um, and the great thing is is that I've created a um, a guide that you can just plug in what you want it to say and that will be in the show notes for you to grab for that exact prompts. So you can use this for work. You can change it for what tasks you need to do. You can change it for how many days, how many hours, and adjust based on what ChatGPT suggests. Okay, okay, so I had the daily workflow for my business.
Speaker 1:Then what I decided to do is that I thought I'm not great at a cleaning schedule, so maybe I can use this similar prompt to ask chat gpt about cleaning. So I told chat gpt. I said I have a four bedroom, four bathroom home with a living room, loft bonus room and a small office and a home gym. I have 45 minutes each morning to clean up, to clean. Come up with a cleaning schedule for seven days of the week. That will be effective and efficient. Okay, now let me just preface that chat. Gbt thinks that I am a super woman and thinks that I can move really quickly through this list.
Speaker 1:So I quickly found out the first day that some of these times are unrealistic. And I also didn't specify the square footage and I didn't specify how detailed I was going into, say, cleaning the bathroom. So what it suggested was every day for 10 to 15 minutes, we are going to make all beds. We're going to tidy the main living area a quick pickup. We are going to start a load of laundry and we're going to rotate whether it's clothes, towels, sheets, etc. We are also going to wipe down kitchen counters and do dishes and take out the trash. Alright, so that would be great if it only took me 10 minutes. But to wipe down the kitchen counters, I have to put all the things that are sitting on the kitchen counter away. To start the load of laundry, that means I have to go up and gather it from my kids rooms. To make all beds. That is going to take a lot of time. Do you know how many pillows and uh, blankets my kids have on their bed? Yeah, um. So again, chat gpt was really thinking highly of how quickly I move um, so you may need to adjust these times a little bit. And then it goes into day by day, deep focus for 30 to 35 minutes a day. Again, chat GPT thinks that I'm superwoman.
Speaker 1:So on Monday it was bathroom day. Okay, it says clean all four bathrooms toilets, sinks, counters, mirrors, tubs, showers, all right. So I was like 30 minutes, no problem. Okay, I started my bathroom and I'm literally in there for like three hours like scrubbing grouts, um, cleaning the tub, the toilet, the sinks, the mirrors, um throwing away the trash, vacuuming, dusting, like literally all the things. And I was like okay, I'm not even going to make it to all the other bathrooms. Okay, and it had restocking toilet paper, soap and towels. If you can do that in 30 minutes, uh, great, great, great for you. Um, and now that it's summer, I am incorporating my kids into these chores, so now they get their own bathrooms to clean, which is great.
Speaker 1:Okay, tuesday is bedrooms and you dust, vacuum and change the bedding in one to two rooms and then you rotate which bedroom gets deep cleaned each week. So the first week I did my, my room, I did my room and I still didn't make it all the way through. So, um, but there was a lot of clothes I needed to put up in, like packages and things that I've just kind of shoved in a corner, um, so I worked on that and then now that again that it's summer, I'm having my kids deep clean their room that day, but I'm choosing which room to help them deep clean. So we just did my middle daughters on Tuesday and I ended up getting her like one of those Betty's bed set things because she has a day bed, and trying to make the covers fit on the other side of that dang bed is so hard and takes up a lot of time. So I was like we are getting new bedding? Um, that is just you zip it right up. Okay, so next week I'll rotate to helping another kid with their deep clean of the bedroom. Um, and that meant like, like dusting and the like see the floor, okay, yeah, see the floor. And like her whole makeup vanity and she is into doing nails now. So there was there's just lots and lots of crafty stuff in there, okay, so Wednesday is our living room and the like upstairs loft area and that's for dusting and vacuuming and fluffing the pillows, cleaning the windows and the glass and tidying things.
Speaker 1:So on Wednesday I had my kids each like pick something in the living room, like some of our big windows or the doors to like Windex, and they had to divide that and I have the little robot vacuum. So I've just been sending that out to kind of vacuum. For me, um, thursday is kitchen. I went to town on that kitchen with like all the pink stuff, um, and it's really helpful to watch a YouTube video of somebody cleaning. And then it's like oh yeah, okay, yeah, I should do that, okay, yeah, I could do that, um, for the kitchen day. So I did like the stove, I did like the oven, um, it says clean microwave, clean out the fridge, um, and mop the floor. So again, I had to vacuum and then mop.
Speaker 1:Um, friday was the bonus room and my office. I did not even get to the office. The office is going to have to be like, oh, like one of those like long days where I need like to organize, I need to throw things out, I need more like drawers and cabinets. I feel like, so that's like on the back burner.
Speaker 1:But today we did the bonus room, or actually yesterday, because today's Saturday, friday we did the bonus room and my son has so many Lego pieces that he just goes to town in there. That was a big feat. That was his task, for the bonus room was putting up all the Legos, because he doesn't want to just shove them in a bin. He has organized them. He has certain ones that are meaningful. He likes to make new characters of Marvel characters and stuff like that and find like the best ways to make one that he doesn't have. So he really takes pride in the Legos and like knowing where they are. So that was his thing. Then another kid did like the pillows and the blankets, and then one did like cleaning up the puzzle stuff, and then I vacuumed. That was my um and like wipe down stuff.
Speaker 1:And then Saturday is supposed to be like our home gym and entryway wiping down the equipment, vacuuming and mopping the floor, um, cleaning the entry mudroom area, which is where our laundry is, and sanitizing like handles. Okay, I didn't, I didn't get to that today. Um, I did that last week though. So I'm feeling pretty confident like of doing at least. If somebody asked me when's the last time you blah, blah, blah, I can say, at least within that month. Okay, so that is so much better than where I was at before.
Speaker 1:Um Sunday, cause I just get overwhelmed. You know, it's like you start one thing and then it's all of a sudden like, oh, I need to clean the junk drawer out. Oh well, here's a screwdriver, I need to go fix that thing upstairs. Oh wait, here's some painter's tape, let me just paint a whole room. Yeah, it's just that that's me. And then I'm like I hate doing all this, so I just quit mid whatever. And yeah, um, okay.
Speaker 1:So then Sunday is vacuuming the whole house, mopping where you need to and catching up on anything that you skipped or forgot or needed extra attention, and then like a light dusting or deep organizing, it says, if time permits. That's pretty funny. Um, so, anyways, after that I like okay, so I do my 530 wake up time, I look at what needs to be done for my business, and then I look and see what needs to be done for my house and I have a plan for that day and it's like something that is doable. It's like you know those like planners where it's like, okay, if you only could do four things today, what would they be? And like you rank them and then you feel so accomplished. If you just did those four things, that's kind of like what this is giving me like okay, I know that if I could just get up with no interruption and start knocking some of these things off my list and then incorporating my kids to help with some of the other things, like maybe it's even like packing client boxes or, um, even placing an Amazon order for me or, um, you know, any of the cleaning stuff. But the business stuff, like I've had them, you know, put together things that uh, go in my packages, um, or take notes of, like what I'm running out of and I need to make an order, um, so you can do that for your kids, you can do that for, um, yeah, just to get things done out of the way.
Speaker 1:One last thing that I want to tell you about organizing your life with chat GPT is also meal planning.
Speaker 1:Okay, so you can type into chat GPT and say I have these ingredients, what can I make with these ingredients?
Speaker 1:You can also put in, like, your macro count and you can say create a shopping list and meal prep guide for the week for me with these, this calorie count, that and these macros. Okay, yeah, genius, um, you can also say come up with a structure that's kid friendly, that's gluten-free, that is high protein, that is, um, nut free, egg free, dairy free, vegan. You can do anything like that and it will come up with like a you know, grocery list, grocery guide, um meals and recipes and, yeah, tons of things. So you can also use chat gpt to organize your meal planning and meal prep. So, um, that is all that I have for you today. Again, grab that freebie in the show notes that will help you, plug this into chat GPT and let me know if this helps you organize your life a little bit better and structure it. If you are a creative like me, where my brain is just all over the place sometimes, all right, well, let me know if you enjoyed this episode and I will see you back next time.
